Quality & process

Sorted by hand. Pressed once. Nothing added.

Good avocado oil starts with good fruit. Every avocado that reaches our press in Thika has been ripened in-house and checked by hand.

Our process

Five steps from farm to drum.

  1. 1Sourcing

We buy avocados from a network of smallholder farmers across Kenya. Our supply terms ask farmers not to use pesticides or fertilisers on their trees, and we advise them on tree care through the year.

  2. 2Ripening

Fruit arrives firm and is ripened in-house, so each avocado is pressed when it is ready rather than when it happens to arrive.

  3. 3Hand sorting

Our team checks each avocado by hand. Ripe fruit goes to extra virgin oil. Overripe fruit goes to crude oil, so nothing is wasted and no poor fruit reaches the extra virgin line.

  4. 4Cold pressing

Extra virgin and crude oil are each extracted in a single cold-press run at low temperature, on machinery imported from Europe. No solvents, chemicals or additives are used.

  5. 5Packing in season

Oil is packed during the April to October season. We do not store oil from one season to the next, so customers receive oil from the current pressing.
